Tamegroute pottery Morocco

From the Sahara to Your Home

My name is Hassan, and I'm originally from Ouarzazat, Morocco. As a child, I visited Tamegroute on a school trip and was fascinated by its famous green pottery. Years later, after moving to Marrakech and working in tourism, I noticed that many travelers wanted authentic Tamegroute pottery but didn't know where to find it.

I started by selling on Etsy, working directly with local artisans. Today, that passion has grown into Tamegroute Pottery—a brand dedicated to sharing authentic handmade ceramics with the world while preserving a centuries-old tradition.

We are now a team of 10 skilled artisans, working across 3 pottery workshops to create both unique handmade pieces and large wholesale orders for retailers, designers, and hospitality projects worldwide.

Our vision is bigger than pottery. We are creating our own designs alongside traditional craftsmanship, helping artisan families grow their businesses, supporting education for children in the village, and creating more opportunities for the local community.

Every piece we make tells the story of Tamegroute, its people, and its heritage. Thank you for supporting our journey and helping keep this beautiful tradition alive.

What Makes Tamegroute Pottery Unique?

Tamegroute pottery is distinguished by its signature emerald-green glaze, derived from natural manganese found only in this region. Each piece is wheel-thrown or hand-built by a single artisan, fired in a traditional wood-burning kiln, and finished with a glaze that gives every item its characteristic depth and variation. No two pieces are identical — the slight variations in color and texture are a mark of authenticity, not imperfection.
